EUGENE TARKENDE ALIEGBA

Dr. Aliegba, a well respected Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the Benue State University, was born in Naka on July 26 1964.

He attended St. Theresa’s Boys Primary School, Jos and the Local Schools Management Board Primary School, Makurdi, obtaining the First School Leaving Certificate in 1977. Thereafter he enrolled at the Government Comprehensive College, Ugba, and graduated with the General Certificate of Education in 1982 before proceeding to the School of Basic Studies Makurdi where he got the IJMB A’ Level certificate in 1985. He also obtained Bachelor of Science, Political Science, 1989; Master of Science, Political Science, 1994; as well as Doctor of Philosophy, 2000; all from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He also holds a Certificate in Information Management Systems, from the Orbit Computers, Makurdi, 2003.

Dr. Aliegba commenced his working career as a Cooperative Assistant with the Benue State Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives, Aliade, in 1982, shortly after graduation from secondary school. Subsequently he became Assistant Information Officer, Gwer local government area, 1985-86; Information Officer, Gwer Local Government Area, 1990-91; Information/Protocol Officer, Gwer West Local Government Area, Naka, 1991.

Between 1991 and 2000 he lectured at the Ahmadu Bello University, rising from Graduate Assistant to Lecturer two before switching over to the Benue State University as Lecturer one and has risen to become Senior Lecturer.

He has been on sabbatical twice, as Senior Lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, 2005-6; and Senior Lecturer, Kogi State University, June to September, 2006.

He is married with children.
