Benue State Emergency Management Agency has warned those residing one kilometre away from River to relocate immediately to avert the pending flood disaster.

The Executive Secretary Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Sir James Anodoakaa Iorpuu FECDRMI FCDAI ANI who received alert from National Emergency Management Agency NEMA and Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency NIHSA said there are very high chances beginning from today of a five-day rainfall that might lead to very devastating flooding in the State.

Sir James Iorpuu said, areas particularly named to be at high risk are Udoma, Ugbokpo, Ukpokolo, Ukpiam, Otobi, Otukpo, Mbapa Makurdi, Gbajimba, Gogo and Abinsi.

He stressed the need for all concerned to heed to such warnings as it was in their best interest while assured that his office with support from Governor Hyacinth Alia will leave no stone unturned at ensuring citizens affected by disasters are always catered for.

The Executive Secretary list designated camps for those in the high risk
of the flood to immediately relocate to the following camps.

Those in Makurdi at Kanshio,Logo 1 and 2,Achusa, Judges Quarters, Behind Hotel Lucia and those residing around BSU to move to Makurdi International Makurdi along George Akume Road.

Kucha Utebe, Brewery,Gyado Villa, Mu and Wurukum to immediately relocate to LGEA Primary school Wurukum populary known as Suswam Thank You.

According to ES SEMA, residents of Rice Mill,Agboughu,Tionsha,Wadata to relocate to NKST Primary School Wadata, those in North Bank should move to Saint Mary’s Catholic Primary School while Abinsi to occupy LGEA Primary School Abinsi,Gbajimba should find their way to Government secondary school Gbajimba,Otukpo residents in flood prone areas to move to Saint Francis Otukpo

He said those in Agatu to move to Oweto and residents of Ogbokolo,Ogbokpo,Mbapa,Uikpam should all move to safer grounds closed to them where they can assessed by the Agency.

He noted that the alerts and predictions was aim to prompt appropriate proactive measures to mitigate the menace of this human-induced and natural form of disaster in the State.
