Ukah acknowledged the support of the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma (CON), who had sworn in the new local government chairmen on September 30th, 2024. This act, he stated, empowered the new leadership to formally begin their roles and accelerate progress within their jurisdictions.
Key Excerpts from the Chairman’s Speech:
Ukah underscored the vital role councillors play in local governance, noting that their election was not only a testament to their capabilities but also a call to serve the community with transparency and integrity. He urged them to engage deeply with their wards and foster strong relationships, encouraging collaboration and listening to the voices of the people they represent.
He also highlighted the socio-economic challenges facing the area, stressing the need for collective action and innovative solutions. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the rule of law, upholding democratic principles, and ensuring that their actions reflect the aspirations of the people they serve.
Ukah concluded by expressing his optimism for the future of Isu LGA, noting that with unity and dedication, the council could implement impactful policies that would transform the local government into a model of development. He extended appreciation to all stakeholders, party leaders, and supporters of the electoral process and urged continuous collaboration for the benefit of the people of Isu.
The chairman’s closing words to the councillors were both encouraging and directive: “Congratulations once again to the newly sworn-in councillors. May your tenure be marked by significant achievements and a strengthened bond with the people of Isu. Let us unite in purpose and action as we strive for a brighter future for our local government and communities.”
This inauguration sets the tone for the newly formed local government to begin work on their vision for a better, more progressive Isu LGA, focusing on development, governance, and community engagement.
