NSIWC

The NSIWC (National Salaries, Incomes & Wages Commission), established by Act 99 of 1993, plays a critical role in managing the salaries and wages system in Nigeria. The Commission’s establishment was based on recommendations from various ad-hoc panels and commissions dating back to the 1960s, which addressed salary and wage issues for Nigerian workers. However, the implementation of these recommendations was often incomplete, preventing workers from fully benefiting. In response, the Udoji Commission (1972–1974) advocated for a permanent body to manage consistent wage reviews in Nigeria’s Public Service, leading to the creation of the NSIWC.
