Ikyogen refugee area

Benue State, Nigeria, has been able to host over 10,000 of the fleeing refugees from Cameroon and has given them a place to stay covering about 200 hectares of land at Ikyogen.

Ikyogen is famous for the cattle ranch it had when Aper Aku was governor of the state.

The environment generally is cool and beautiful, largely attractive to tourists.

Ikyogen is close to Cameroon.

Kwandel local government area of Benue state where Ikyogen is located, shares boundary with Cameroon.

Combined efforts of UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees), other charitable organizations, Ikyogen people (the host community), Benue state government and others help take care of the refugees.
