Akata is a place in Katsina-Ala local government area.

The place is part of Katsina-Ala town but extends outside of the town to include some villages that belong to Ikyurav Tiev clan of Tiv nation and the Etulo.

The most busy route in Katsina-Ala town reaches Akata. The road from Takum junction to Juladaco roundabout to College of Education side gate (known as across) gets to Akata.

Akata is headed by a traditional ruler and a designated government official.

Very prominent about Akata is the lake and the fishing festival.

Akata lake is close to both Katsina-Ala town and Katsina-Ala River.

The fishing festival is an annual fishing event at the lake.

The chairman of Katsina Ala local government, as at 2022, Atera Alfred, led a delegation from Benue State Government, traditional rulers, councillors and others to year 2022 Akata Fishing Festival.

Biggest fish caught is one of the important part of the festival.
