FMBN’s NHF, FGSHLB Housing Loan application procedures, requirements, details
Two main routes
FMBN’s National Housing Fund (NHF) Mortgage Loan — open to any Nigerian contributor (not just civil servants)

How to apply (typical steps)
- Register as an NHF contributor via FMBN or your employer
- Maintain contributions (2.5% of basic salary) for 6+ months
- Apply through an accredited PMB or via FGSHLB if you’re specifically a federal civil servant
- Provide employment ID, BVN, payslips, bank statements, and proof of income

Loan ceiling

- Letter of Introduction from your MDA, signed by the Director of HRM
- Letter of Appointment
- Confirmation of Appointment (Gazette)
- Official ID Card + passport photo
- PFA (pension) Certificate
- Current payslip
- A guarantor’s: confirmation of appointment, ID card, passport, and current payslip

Key terms
- Repayment period is at least 25 years, based on your age/appointment date and retirement timeline fgshlb
- Property must be insured against fire, flood, or lightning, with premiums deducted from salary fgshlb
- The house can’t be let/sublet until the loan is fully repaid fgshlb
- If you retire, resign, or die before repayment, the Board can foreclose unless satisfactory repayment arrangements are made fgshlb
- Submitting fake documents is treated as misconduct and a corrupt practice, with possible prosecution fgshlb

Since this is a lifelong financial commitment it’s worth having your own numbers (salary, other debts, retirement date) worked out before applying, since the 25-year repayment may tie-in matters a lot.
