ZONE ONE
Zone One (1) Police Zonal Command is located in the North-West Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. It comprises Jigawa and Kano states, with the headquarters located in Kano state. The entire Zone one has a total land mass of about 43,285 square kilometers.
Jigawa State, the “new world” has a land mass of 23,154 square kilometers, covering 21 Local Government Areas with its capital in Dutse; while Kano State, the “Centre of Commerce” is considered the most industrialized and most populated State in the north of Nigeria. It is the largest industrial center after Lagos State. Kano comprises of 44 Local Government Areas with a total land mass of 20,131 square kilometers. Its capital is Kano.
ZONE TWO
Zone Two (2) Police Zonal Command located in the South-west Geo-political Zone of Nigeria, comprises of Lagos and Ogun States. Zone Two headquarters is located in Lagos state. The entire Zone Two has a total land mass of about 43,285 square kilometers.
Lagos State, the “Centre of Excellence” which is the smallest State in Nigeria in terms of size has a land mass of 3,345 square kilometers, covering 37 Local Government Areas. A mega city, Lagos State is reputed to be the most populated State in the country, with its capital in Ikeja. It is the largest commercial city in the country. . On the other hand, Ogun State, the “Gateway State” has 20 Local Government Areas with a total land area of 16,762 square kilometers. Its capital is Abeokuta. Like Lagos, it has an international land borders with Benin Republic and also hosts one of the largest concentration of industries and factories.
ZONE THREE
Zone Three (3) Police Command is located in the North-East Geo-political Zone of Nigeria and comprises of Adamawa and Taraba States. The entire Zone Three has a total land mass of about 91,193 square kilometers with its headquarters in Yola.
Adamawa State, the “Highest Peak of the Nation” has a land mass of 36,917 square kilometers, covering 21 Local Government Areas. Its capital is Yola; while Taraba State, the “Nature’s Gift to the Nation”, has 16 Local Government Areas with a total land mass of 54,473 square kilometers. Its capital is Jilingo.
ZONE FOUR
Zone Four (4) Police Command located in the North-central Geo-political zone of Nigeria is one of the resultant effects of the Force reorganization in 1986 during which six Zones were created. Certain numbers of States were placed under the Zone for the purpose of effective supervision and administration.
Zone Four presently has three States Commands under it namely: Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa State commands with the Zonal Headquarters in Makurdi, Benue State. The entire Zone four has a total land mass of about 92,089 square kilometers.
Benue State, the “Food Basket of the Nation” has a land mass of 34,059 square kilometers, covering 23 Local Government areas with its capital in Makurdi. Nasarawa State, the “Home of Solid Minerals” has a land mass of 27,117 square kilometers, covering 13 Local Government Areas with its capital in Lafia, while Plateau State, the “Home of Peace and Tourism”, has 17 Local Government Areas with a total land mass of 30,913 square kilometers with its capital in Jos.
ZONE FIVE
Zone Five (5) Police Command located in the South-south Geo-political Zone of Nigeria and comprises of Edo and Delta States has a total land mass of about 35,500 square kilometers. Its headquarters is Benin-city.
Edo State, the “Heart Beat of the Nation” with its great history, is known for its rich culture. It has a land mass of 17,802 square kilometers, covering 15 Local Government areas with its capital in Benin-city. While Delta State, the second State in the Zone is fondly called the “Finger of God”. It is blessed with crude oil and natural gas and a total of 25 Local Government Areas. It has a total land mass of 17,698 square kilometers with its capital in Asaba.
ZONE SIX
Zone Six (6) Police Command located in the south-south Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria and comprises of Akwa-Ibom, and Cross-River State with the headquarters located in Cross River. The entire Zone six has a total land mass of about 27,237 square kilometers with its headquarters in Calabar.
Akwa-Ibom State, the “Land of Promise” is ranked among the richest states in Nigeria and one of the highest oil producing states in the country. It has a land mass of 7,081 square kilometers, covering 31 Local Government Areas with its capital in Uyo. Cross-River State, the “Ntion’s Paradise”, is another wealthy state in the country relying heavily on oil and gas including its booming tourism sector. It has 17 Local Government Areas with a total land mass of 20,156 square kilometers.
ZONE SEVEN
Zone Seven (7) Police Command located in the North central Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command comprises of FCT and Niger State with the headquarters located in FCT, Abuja. The entire Zone has a total land mass of about 84,363 square kilometers.
FCT, the “Centre of Unity”, has a land mass of 8,000 square kilometers, covering 6 Local Government Areas with its capital in Abuja. Niger State, the “Power State”, the largest state in Nigeria in terms of land mass measured in an area of 76,363 square kilometers, has 25 Local Government Areas with its capital in Minna.
ZONE EIGHT
Zone Eight (8) Police Command with its Headquarters in Lokoja comprises of Kogi and Kwara States. The entire Zone has a total land area of about 66,658 square kilometers with its headquarters in Lokoja.
Kogi State, the “Confluence State”, has a land mass of 29,833 square kilometers, covering 21 Local Government Areas with its capital in Lokoja; while Kwara State, the “State of Harmony”, has a land mass of 36,825 square kilometers, covering 15 Local Government Areas with its capital in Ilorin.
ZONE NINE
Zone Nine (9) was established in December 2000, but commenced its operation in January, 2001. It is located in the South-East Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria and comprises of Imo, Ebonyi and Abia States, with its Headquarters in Umuahia. The entire Zone has a total land mass of about 17,520 square kilometers.
Imo State, the “Eastern Heartland”, has a land mass of 5,530 square kilometers, covering 27 Local Government Areas, with its capital in Owerri; while Ebonyi State, the “Salt of the Nation”, has a land mass of 5,670 square kilometers, covering 13 Local Government Areas with its capital in Abakaliki. The third State, Abia State, the “God’s own State”, has a land area of 6,320 square kilometers, covering 17 Local Government Areas with its capital in Umuahia.
ZONE TEN
Zone Ten (10) Police Command established in December 2002 is located in the North-West Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command comprises of Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara State commands. The entire Zone has a total land mass of about 336,355 square kilometers with its headquarters in Sokoto.
Kebbi State, the “Land of Equity”, has a land mass of 36,800 square kilometers, covering 21 Local Government Areas with its capital in Birni Kebbi; Sokoto State, the “Seat of the caliphate”, has a land mass of 25,973 square kilometers, covering 22 Local Government Areas with its capital in Sokoto; while Zamfara State, “Farming is our pride”, has a land mass of 39,762 square kilometers, covering 15 Local Government Areas with its capital in Guasau.

ZONE THIRTEEN
Zone Thirteen (13) Police Command is located in the South-East Geo-political zone of Nigeria. It comprises of Enugu and Anambra States, with the Headquarters located in Ukpo-Dunukofia, Anambra State. The entire Zone has a total land mass of about 12,002 square kilometers.
Enugu State, the “Coal City”, has a land mass of 7,161 square kilometers, covering 17 Local Government areas with its capital in Enugu city; while Anambra State, the “Light of the Nation”, has a land mass of 4,841 square kilometers, covering 21 Local Government Areas, with its capital in Awka.
ZONE FOURTEEN
Zone Fourteen (14) Police Command is located in the North-West Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. It comprises of Katsina and Kaduna States, with the Headquarters in Katsina. The entire Zone has a total land mass of about 70,245 square kilometers.
Katsina State, the “State of Hospitality”, has a land mass of 24,192 square kilometers, covering 34 Local Government Areas, with its capital in Katsina; while Kaduna State, the “Centre of Learning”, has a land mass of 46,053 square kilometers, covering 23 Local Government Areas with its capital in Kaduna.
ZONE FIFTEEN
Zone Fifteen (15) Police Command is located in the North-East Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command comprises of Borno and Yobe State commands with its headquarters in Maiduguri. The entire Zone has a total land mass of about 116,400 square kilometers.
Borno State, the “Home of Peace”, one of the largest States in the country, has a land mass of 70,898 square kilometers, covering 27 Local Government Areas with its capital in Maiduguri; while Yobe State, the “Pride of the Sahel”, has a land mass of 45,502 square kilometers, covering 17 Local Government Areas, with its capital in Damaturu.
ZONE SIXTEEN
Zone Sixteen (16) Police Command is located in the South-South Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command comprises of Bayelsa and Rivers State commands with its headquarters in Yenegoa. The entire Zone has a total land mass of about 21,850 square kilometers.
Bayelsa State, the “Glory of All Lands”, one of the Niger-Delta states with crude oil in abundance, has a land mass of 10,773 square kilometers, covering 8 Local Government Areas with its capital in Yenegoa. Rivers State, the “Treasure Base of the Nation”, one of the richest oil producing states in the country, with a land mass of 11,077 square kilometers, covering 23 Local Government Areas with its capital in Port Harcourt.
ZONE SEVENTEEN
Zone Seventeen (17) Police Command is located in the South-West Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command comprises of Ondo and Ekiti State commands with its Headquarters in Akure. The entire Zone has a total land mass of about 21,853 square kilometers.
Ondo State, the “Sunshine State”, has a land mass of 15,500 square kilometers, covering 29 Local Government Areas with its capital in Akure; while Ekiti State, the “Land of Honour and Integrity”, has a land mass of 6,353 square kilometers, covering 16 Local Government Areas with its capital in Ado-Ekiti.
