David Olofu

Born on October 2, 1968, Olofu hails from Opaha Edikwu Two in Apa Local Government Area. He obtained the General Certificate of Education, GCE Ordinary Level, from St. Francis College Otukpo in 1986 after which he proceeded to the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi and graduated with a Bachelor of Agriculture, specializing in Agricultural Economics. Mr. Olofu enrolled for and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, in 2003.

In 2004 he got a Diploma in Information Systems Management from APTECH Computer School, Abuja. He did the compulsory youth service with the Federal Ministry of Sports between 1997 and 1998.

He had worked as Warehouse, Accounts and Sales departments of Gyado Foods Nigeria Limited from 1987 to 1989.  Between August 1998 and August, 1999 he worked with Two Twins Ventures Abuja and thereafter with when the Local Organizing Committee of Ghana/Nigeria 2000 at the Federal Ministry of Sports and Social Development, Abuja. From January, 2001 and June, 2004, Mr. Olofu was with the 8th All Africa Games Organizing Committee and thereafter, Director/Consultant to Asset Generic and Integrated Services Ltd in Abuja, from July, 2004 to September, 2005. He served as Special Assistant to the National Coordinator of SERVICOM in the Presidency from September, 2005 to December, 2006; and consultant and technical member at the same office from January, 2007 to June, 2008.

Between August, 2008 and March 2010, Mr. Olofu was Special Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of the Organizing Committee of the FIFA U17 World Cup, tagged Nigeria 2009. Between 2011 and 2014, he served as Special Assistant to the Minister of State, Trade, Industries and Investment.

From October, 2014 to June, 2015 when he was appointed commissioner, Mr. Olofu was Project Director, Business Start-Up Opportunity Project Gte/Ltd.

He has visited the United Kingdom, United States of America, France, Germany, Turkey, China, Algeria, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Togo, Benin Republic, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and Sudan.

Married with three children, his hobbies include listening to music, learning and charity.
