Conrad Aondoaver Wergba was born to the family of Joseph Wergba Kaior, a school administrator, and Mrs. Christiana Animi Wergba, a devout Christian, tailor and farmer, on May 20 1962.
Conrad started his early education at the NKST Primary School, Gboko in 1969.
He attended the William Bristow Secondary School Gboko between 1975 and 1980. Thereafter he proceeded to the University of Jos, where he studied and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Chemistry in 1986.
Wergba, while conducting a research for optimization studies on Biogas production using cow dung during the 1985 academic year, exercised scholarly curiosity by extending the study to decayed grass and obtained impressive results which earned him the best research of the department award of the year.
Wergba later diversified into the engineering discipline when in 1997 he obtained a post graduate diploma in Welding and Fabrication Engineering of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and subsequently, in 2008 bagged a Masters degree in Production Engineering in the same University.
The ergonomics investigations he undertook at some select workstations in local brick manufacturing industries during his Masters research and his eventual presentation led the department and the Board of External Examiners to persuade him to immediately take a Ph.D in the same area which he enthusiastically obliged and has completed the programme.
Soon after his secondary education, young Conrad was employed as Assistant Technical Officer (Buildings) before proceeding to the University. Upon graduation in 1986, he was posted to the Old Rivers State for the National Youth Service and deployed to Community Secondary School, Sagbama where he was head of Chemistry.
Having successfully completed the scheme, Mr. Wergba returned home to Benue State and taught in many schools, including Kings Comprehensive College, Mkar, where he headed Chemistry, Physics and also taught mathematics while teaching organic chemistry part time with Hilltop University, now University of Mkar.
In preparation for service to his State and Fatherland, Mr. Wergba has continuously embarked on self development programmes by acquiring knowledge based experiences by attending many Training seminars and workshops across the world.
He studied and obtained a Certificate in Computer Studies at the Orbit Computers Training Centre, Makurdi, a Certificate in Entrepreneurship of the Songhai Production, Training, Research and Sustained Development Centre, Porto-Novo, Republic of Benin, 2008, Certificate in Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Africa, in Cairo, Egypt. He also has a Certificate of participation in some high level workshops including that of the World Solar Energy Congress of 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Others are the ones in Establishment of Business incubators in China and Singapore while that of Establishment of Science Parts was obtained in Malaysia in 2007. Conrad Wergba has participated in many high level delegations of his State and Nation including President Goodluck Jonathan led bilateral trade delegation to South Africa (then as Vice President in 2008). Mr Wergba led Nigeria’s delegation to the World Ceramic Fair in Jingdezhen, China. He was on Benue State Governor’s delegation to the Business and Investment Forum in Washington DC, United States of America, 2011.
Mr. Wergba is happily married to Mrs. Theresa Mngohol Wergba, A Chief Magistrate of the Benue State Judiciary and they have two boys, Horeb Aondokator and Joseph-Elah Sesugh.
