Many Tiv people in Nigeria have never seen their kins in Cameroon and vice versa.

Transportation along the Nigeria – Cameroon border is not very easy due to unavailability of good roads.

The road situation is compounded by government neglect and a difficult terrain full of mountains.

As at 2022 there were about 1700 Tiv households with approximately 11,000 people at the south-western Cameroon’s Manyu division, north east of Akwaya on the Nigerian border, and bordering the Iyom tribes of Cameroon.①

Tiv paramount ruler in Cameroon, Zaki Abaajul, has both Tiv and Ulitsi as his subjects.②

Cameronian Tiv are well educated and live in anglophone Cameroon as their ancestral land, while a few others live in the francophone region.

They are mostly farmers but others work in the government offices among other occupations.

An easy land route to the Tiv in Cameroon, provided one took off from Gboko, Tiv nation’s capital is: Gboko to Adikpo to Ikyogen to Join Water market in Ugbe and Iyon clans from there to the Cameroon border. On reaching Cameroon the Tiv in Cameroon are also close to the border.

Tiv are on both sides of the Nigeria Cameroon border along Moon council ward in Kwande local government area of Benue state.
