Makurdi Cargo Airport, Benue state, Nigeria

Makurdi Cargo Airport or Cargopolis Makurdi Airport is located near Daudu, along Makurdi – Abuja road in Guma LGA of Benue State.

It’s sited 28 kilometers north of Makurdi, the state capital.

Construction commenced in 2016 and was scheduled for completion in 2019 though uncompleted as at 2023.

The airport belongs to Benue State Government in partnership with a Chinese/Nigeria venture: Cargopolis Development Consortium (CDC) Ltd.

It’s to be operated by FAAN (Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria).

Under a public-private partnership agreement, Benue State will provide 1000 ha of land as well as an equity contribution of NGN5.2 billion (USD26 million) for the NGN37.9 billion (USD190.5 million) development.

MoU with CDC
Benue State Government and CDC signed an MoU for the construction of the cargo airport.

The project is to be funded largely by CDC. The Benue State government is to provide 1000 hectares of land for the project, in addition to 15% equity contribution.
