Born on 7th April, 1961, Dr. Orduen Abunku hails from Ukough, Mbatiav in Gboko local government area of Benue State.
He was educated at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria from where he obtained the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in 1984 and at the University of Glasgow in Scotland where he undertook a postgraduate basic science course. Between 1996 and 1999, Dr. Abunku was at the Brockton Hospital in Massachusetts in the United States of America where he completed his internship training and at The Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio, also in the United States for a residency training programme.
The Hon. Commissioner did his secondary education at the William Bristow Secondary School, Gboko. He has served as medical officer at several hospitals including The Christ and Brockton Hospitals in the United States, Linstead and Spanish Town Hospitals in Jamaica, The Polyclinic in Makurdi, TBT Hospital, Gboko, Mkar Christian Hospital, Mkar, Gboko and the General Hospital, Makurdi.
Dr. Orduen Abunku is married and has children.
