The refined coconut oil processor is a large manufacturing facility with a capacity to process one million nuts a day and employ over 3000 direct workers working in three shifts daily.

St Gabriel Coconut Oil company is located in Ikot Akpan Okop village in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area on 7.88 hectares.

Construction was done by a Turkish construction firm, VKS.

St Gabriel Coconut Oil company comprises a complex with administrative offices, production areas, technical spaces, industrial firefighting systems, water treatment plants, effluent treatment plants and residential quarters for technical and managerial staff as well as parking areas for tractors carrying raw materials.

About 2million fast yielding hybrid coconut trees had been planted on an 11,000 hectare of land at the St Gabriel plantation in a swampland spanning Mkpat Enin, Ikot Abasi, and Eastern Obolo Local Government Areas.

Similarly, the Government has ensured that coconuts are cultivated at Okobo, Okon -Eket and other locations in the State.

This makes it the largest coconut plantation in Africa, and the most ambitious coconut project in the world.

Virgin coconut oil costs higher oo the international market than crude oil.

The coconut oil factory is expected to be a major foreign exchange earner the state.and create employment.

This being efforts by the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel to prepare Akwa Ibom State, which is Nigeria highest crude oil producing State from over reliance on petroleum.
