Stephen Asamoah Boateng

Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng is a Corporate Management Professional with extensive experience in private and public sectors on Corporate Governance, Business Finance, Strategic Planning, Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Change Management, amongst others. He has built an invaluable experience over the past 46 years.

He served as a former Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West Constituency from 2005 to 2009 and has served as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President of Ghana. He became a Deputy Minister and then a full Cabinet Minister, holding three key portfolios at   Ministry Local Government, Rural Development & Environment; Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations and Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

He was appointed as the Director -General of States Interests and Governance Authority in 2019

In Feb 2023,  he was appointed by Resident Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

He is Married and has Seven adorable children

Hometown

He hails from Kormantse in the Central Region of Ghana.

Politics and Career

He worked at the Central Medical Stores as a Store Assistant on secondment to the Ghana Health Services from 1977   to 1978.

He worked with Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in the United Kingdom as a Housing Officer from 1988 to 1996 and moved to Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a Marketing Consultant and left in 1998. Later that year in the same 1998, he worked with Business Link as a Business Advisor and left in 2001 where he later established a consultancy firm (KAP Business and Economic Service from 2009 to April 2017 where he provided Consultancy services to the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID).

He has been the Executive Chairman for State Enterprise Commission (SEC) since 2017 and later appointed as the Director – General in June 2019 for State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) and Handed Over in 2021.

He contested for the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West Constituency in the 2004 General election and won.

He was appointed as the Deputy Minister then later as a full Cabinet Minister under President John Agyekum Kufuor’s Administration at the following Ministries; Local Government , Rural Development and Environment,  Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations and the Ministry of Information and  National Orientation.
