The security and peace seeking meeting of Ngenev component held Thursday at NKST Church Gondo in Ukum Local government Area ended in deadlock following intervention by the Benue State commissioner for Information, culture and Tourism, Hon. Mathew Aboh.

Speaking at the meeting as representative of the Benue State Governor, Hon. Abo wondered why some Traditional leaders were held bent in telling lies rather than unveiling the truth.

According to him, some Traditional leaders, elders and stakeholders were playing double standard at the meeting and as such showcased during the meeting.

While expressing displeasure, the Hon. commissioner explained that, some Traditional rulers were deeply involved in criminal activities with bandits and warn them to stay clear adding that, any traditional ruler found wanting shall be dethroned immediately.

He further challenge Traditional rulers to live up to expectations as chief custodians of Ngenev component adding that, they owe Ngenev people a duty to be protected at all times.

He commended some district Heads for conducting meetings at ward level as directed and appeal for more time for some of them who failed to do the needful to reconvene at wards level and report back to Ngenev people at a later date.

Few repentant bandits in attendance surrendered. They asked Ngenev people to forgive them and promised not to go back to banditry and unlawful activities anymore.

The clergy, community and opinion leaders, elders, youth and women attended the meeting with a view to seeking lasting solution to security challenge faced by Ngenev people and Ukum as a whole.
