BLUE PRINT: Local Government workable administrative framework.

Below are the monumental achievements of Hon Dr Dennis Akura, upon his assumption of office duties as Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Bureau of Local and Chieftaincy Affairs, on the 3rd October, 2023

1, Local Government Financial autonomy Grant.
2, Prompt payment of Salaries and pension at the Local Government Councils.
3, Automation of salary payroll exercise including, 2011/2012 Local Government staff that was illegally sacked by the previous administrations across the 23 Local Government areas.
4, Restoration of office imprest and overheads across the 23 Local Government.
5, Regular payment of Traditional Rulers emoluments including hospital bills across the State.
6, Installation of 33KV Transformer for constant power supply at the Bureau headquarters and pension Commission, Makurdi.
7, Collaboration with Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission through submission of data/indices to boost Benue State Local Government Allocation from the Federation Account for the development of Local Government areas in the State.
8, Purchased of Mower machines across the 23 Local Government for the cleanliness of Councils Secretariat.
9, Thorough inspection exercise conducted by the Directorate of Monitoring and Inspection to update entries in account books after a decade of neglect by the previous administrations across the 23 Local Government Councils.
10, Purchased of over 50 Units of 2022-2023, Toyota Hilox Vehicles to donate to Government officials and Conventional Security across the 23 Local Government areas as part of the Fr Alia’s commitment to fight insecurity.
11, Purchased of over 300 motorcycles (Bajaj), to donate to the Local Government Council officis and Internal Security for quick response to emergencies of insecurity at the grassroots across the 23 Local Government areas.
12, Overhaul reconstruction and remodeling of ALGON House to ALGON Guest House in Makurdi.
13, Approval for the recruitment of 9700 Primary School Teachers as part of Fr Alia’s administration commitment to reposition Education sector in Benue State.
14, Memorandum with the Bureau of Special projects and Infrastructure to open Massive rural access road across the 23 Local Government.
15, Installation of Street Lights across the 23 Local Government Councils.
16, Training of Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen, DGSA’s and Treasurers across the 23 Local Government Councils on “Responsive Local Government Leadership workshop for effective Local Government Administration in Benue State.
17, Approval for the conduct of Security awareness Workshop of the Traditional Rulers in Benue State.
18, Local Government Councils IGR is now credited directly into their main accounts through the strict directives by the Special Adviser. Strict monitoring and inspection is launched to this effect.
19, Collaboration with the Benue State Area Traditional Council to successfully select and replace the vacancies of the traditional Rulers at the level of Kindred, Districts & clan bisections in Benue State. Mean while, plans are on the way to commence mop-up exercise and selection of graded traditional rulers.
22, Empowered the 23 Local Government Councils with improved Palm trees Nursery.
23, Collaboration with Benue State AcReSal to distribute fertilizer at the rural areas across the 23 Local Councils in Benue State.
24, Collaboration with the Boundaries Commission to carry out boundary adjustments in the affected areas across the Local Government areas to halt boundary crisis.
25, Overhaul renovation of the Special Adviser’s office with modern furniture.
26, Overhaul renovation of the Multipurpose Hall with modern Furniture at Bureau headquarters Makurdi
27, Approval of the construction of Warehouse(30×15m) at the Bureau headquarters, Makurdi.
28, Approved Solar Installation Lights at the Bureau headquarters, Makurdi.
29, work is in progress on the installation of electricity Transformer at Och’Idoma’s Palace, Otukpo.


30, work in progress on the rehabilitation and supply of water at Och’Idoma’s Palace.
31, Successful burial of First Class Chiefs: Tor Sankera1 and Tor Jechira1.
32, Shortly after the assumption of office, Dr Dennis Akura coordinated an extensive interface with the two Paramount Rulers and members of the Benue State Council of Chiefs which was presided by His Excellency Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State in Government House Makurdi.
33, Sponsorship of the Annual Maiden Edition Meeting of the Benue State Council of Chiefs at Otukpo.
