Power has finally been restored in Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, and Benue states after a ten-day blackout that affected several northern states. The disruption began due to the tripping of the 330kV transmission line between Benue and Enugu, causing widespread distress among residents and impacting daily life and businesses.
In response, President Tinubu directed the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to expedite the restoration process. Measures were implemented to ensure the safety of engineers working on the damaged transmission lines, including military support to protect against vandalism. Tinubu emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing future infrastructure sabotage and encouraged community leaders to collaborate with security agencies for public asset protection.
The restoration has brought relief to affected areas, where the power outage severely disrupted social and economic activities.
