Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading construction and engineering firms, has officially announced a leadership transition as the current Managing Director, Engr. Dr. Lars Richter, steps down following the completion of his contract. Dr. Richter, who began his journey with the company in 2002 and rose to Managing Director in 2018, expressed gratitude to the board and staff, highlighting his 15-year career with Julius Berger Nigeria as deeply fulfilling and noting that he is returning to Germany for personal reasons. His resignation was formally accepted by the company’s Board of Directors during a meeting on September 25, 2024.
Succeeding Dr. Richter is Dr. Peer Lubasch, who takes over as Managing Director effective October 16, 2024, following his role as CEO of Julius Berger International GmbH, based in Wiesbaden. Dr. Lubasch, who joined the company in 2010 and has held multiple leadership roles, brings two decades of professional engineering experience, with significant expertise in analytical decision-making, problem-solving, and project management. His previous assignments within the company included positions at PrimeTech Design & Engineering Nig. Ltd. and key managerial roles across Nigeria.
Dr. Lubasch, a civil engineer with a Ph.D. from the University of Duisburg-Essen, has contributed to several high-profile projects in Nigeria, such as the NIS Administrative Building in Abuja and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge in Lagos. He is a member of both the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), as well as a fluent speaker of English, German, and Spanish.
