The Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has assured of his government’s willingness and readiness to compensate the affected people as the Federal government sets to commence the construction of Buruku bridge.
The governor who was represented by his Commissioner for Works, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Tiza Isaac Imojime Orya disclosed this during a sensitization visit to the people of Mbaapen, where they had robust discussions on the right of way and compensations for a seamless commencement of work.
The governor extended a warm appreciation to the President of the federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for awarding the construction of a dual lane bridge across river Katsina Ala at Buruku crossing point, which when completed will open up economic activities in the area.
The Commissioner alongside the Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Creativity, Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange and the Ministry’s Director of Civil Engineering Directorate, Engr. T.A Wombo, equally had a brainstorming session with the SETRACO Area Manager Engr Michel Razek and his team for a smooth commencement of work.
Responding, the people of Mbaapen thanked the president of Nigeria for finding them worthy of recognition with such a capital intensive legacy project. They equally extended their heartfelt appreciations to the Benue State Governor for accepting to relieve the federal government of compensation.
In the words of one of them; “er i lu Alia alu nan se compensation je, se mba a zaiyol ga. Tiza ôô or Batur a hii Tom ” which literally means, “as long as it is Alia that is compensating, there is no problem. Tiza let the (white man) contractor commence work already”.
