Adam Ochume Onum

Born on 20th October 1953 at Aune-Adoka in Otukpo Local government, Justice Unum started his educational pursuits at N.A Primary School Ugbokolo from 1960 to1966 and got his First School Leaving Certificate, then moved to G.S.S Otukpo in 1968 and in 1972, obtained his WASC. He also attended Government College Keffi from 1973 to1974 and obtained a H.S.C.

Justice Unum got admission into University of Lagos in 1974. In1977, he graduated from the institution with an LLB (Hons) certificate, after which he attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos between 1977 and 1978 and graduated with a BL Certificate.

Justice Unom was a Magistrate in Vandeikya from 1980 to 1982, was into private legal practice from 1982 to1983, after which he was elected member, B.S.H.A in 1983. In 1984, he went back to private legal practice until 1988, and became Solicitor-General of Benue State between 1988 and1989. That year, he was appointed Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, where he served between 1989 and1991. Justice Onum is today, a High Court Judge.

A man of selfless disposition, Justice Unom has done so much for his people and humanity in general.  He renovated a primary School in Aune-Adoka, and has influenced the award of Grants in Aid of Secondary School in Aune-Adoka. He also donated Introductory Technology equipment to a Secondary school in Aune-Adoka, and he is also responsible for influencing the establishment of an Earth Dam in Aune-Adoka, his home town.

He is a member of Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association as well as a member of the International Society for Reform of Criminal Law.

He loves playing games especially Tennis and has travelled to Ivory Coast, Ghana, U.K, Ireland and Thailand.

He is married with children.
