  • Terms ending soon: The 2019–27 seats were up in the 4 October 2026 election. 54 of the 81 seats were contested, two per state and in the Federal District. Those 54 current senators leave office at the end of their terms on 31 January 2027, unless re-elected, and the winners take their seats on 1 February.
  • Parties: Party labels are the Senate’s current records. Senators switch parties fairly often, so they may differ from the party a senator was elected under.

The 54 senators-elect are below. They serve eight-year terms, from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2035. A dagger (†) marks a current senator returning, going by the list in my last message.

Brazil's 81 Sitting Senators with State, Name, Party, Date of Birth
  • Who stays and who goes: By my count, 14 of the 54 are returning senators. The other 40 are new to the Senate, so many current senators lose their seats in February 2027.
  • Seats not up for election: The 27 senators with 2023–31 terms keep their seats. These are the “2023–31” rows in my first table.
  • Party changes: Several of these party labels may shift before or after the February 2027 swearing-in.
