Catholic pontiff, the Pope, erects a new Diocese of Wukari, and appoints Rev. Fr. Mark Maigida Nzukwein, as the first Bishop of the Diocese, the Vatican press office reports.
The new Bishop, Mark Maigida, prior to his appointment as Bishop, was the priest of Jalingo Diocese and the Rector of St. Augustine Major Seminary in Jos.
Wukari Diocese is carved out of Jalingo Diocese and becomes a suffragan of the Metropolitan See of Jos.
Born on July 15, 1969 in Jenuwa Nyifiye and ordained a Catholic Priest for Jalingo Diocese in July 15, 1995, Msgr. Mark studied philosophy at the St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Makurdi from 1987 to 1990 and theology at St. Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos from 1991 to 1995.
Besides serving as a Rector of the Major Seminary, Msgr. Mark has held many offices in the Church including being Rector of Sacred Heart Minor Seminary and Vicar General of Jalingo Diocese.
