Assistant Superintendent of Police is the rank given to a degree holder or university graduate when newly employed in Nigeria police.

Either ① the new employee already had a degree from somewhere and got employed by the police, attended the police college for a brief training and was made Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police or ② joined the Nigeria Police Academy (NPA), obtained a bachelor’s degree and was commissioned into the Assistant Superintendent of Police rank.
