Anka

Anka Local Government Area (LGA) is one of the 14 LGAs in Zamfara State, located in the Northwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The administrative center is the town of Anka, which is also the seat of the Emir of Anka, the traditional ruler of the area. Anka LGA includes several towns and villages, such as Bagega, Tangar Daji, Kawaye, and Wuya.

Anka is noted for gold mining. Human Rights Watch indicated that more than 4000 children were found to be infected with lead poisoning as a result of illegal gold mining activities in the communities of Anka and Bukkuyun in Zamfara state. Over the past two years, the disease has killed more than 400 children in the state.
