Jonathan Modi Holds Security Meeting and Surveys Damage from Zaki Biam Protest

On October 22, 2024, the Executive Chairman of Ukum Local Government, Hon. Jonathan Modi, held his first general security meeting with the heads of various security agencies. The meeting included representatives from Operation Whirl Stroke, the Divisional Police Officers of Zaki Biam and Gbeji divisions, the Department of State Services (DSS), Operation Zenda (Crack Squad), the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Federal Road Safety Commission, the Nigerian Hunters Association, Benue State Community Volunteer Guards, and the Benue State Livestock Guards.

The purpose of the meeting was to engage with security agencies and develop strategies to enhance the security operations within Ukum Local Government. Hon. Modi emphasized the need for collaboration and efficiency in restoring peace and stability to the area.

Following the meeting, Hon. Modi, accompanied by the security heads, conducted an inspection tour of properties that were damaged during the recent protests in Zaki Biam. The sites inspected included the Ukum Local Government INEC office, the Upper Area Court Sankera, the Civil Defence office, the Livestock Guards’ office, Operation Zenda office, and the Ukum Local Government Secretariat.

Hon. Modi, who is also the ALGON Secretary of Benue State, proceeded to the Local Government Guest House and Quarters, where he inspected ongoing renovation works on a temporary office and residential quarters. He urged contractors to expedite the renovations, as he intends to permanently relocate to Ukum within the next two weeks to resume full administrative duties.

Additionally, the chairman, alongside his team, visited the damaged property of Rt. Hon. Paul Biam, Chief of Staff to the Governor, including his residence along Ugba Road and a nearby hotel.

Hon. Modi expressed his commitment to swiftly restore the affected properties and ensure that Ukum regains its former glory. He emphasized that the safety and security of the local government remain his top priority.
