State Institutions and Ministries of Bosnia and Herzegovina

1. Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Presidency is the collective head of state comprising three members representing the constituent peoples. Each member serves a four-year term; the chairmanship rotates every eight months.

Current Members (since 16 November 2022):

  • Bosniak Member: Denis Bećirović
  • Serb Member: Željka Cvijanović
  • Croat Member: Željko Komšić

Chairman of the Presidency (rotating):

  • Željko Komšić (current presiding member as of July 2025)

The Presidency sets state policy, represents Bosnia and Herzegovina internationally, and has key constitutional functions, including nominating the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers.


2. Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Council of Ministers is the executive branch of the central government. Its members include the chairperson and the ministers heading the nine ministries.
