The Abuja City Gate was built in the early 1990s to commemorate the movement of the seat of the Federal Government of Nigeria from Lagos to Abuja.

It serves as a welcome landmark for people arriving the city.

It’s located on the Airport Road, between the city center and Abuja’s airport, the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

If someone is arriving from the airport they may pass through several small, satellite towns like Lugbe before arriving the City Gate.

After the City Gate (if one is coming from airport) the next major place to see is Abuja Sports Stadium then a lot of buildings that make up the city.

Nigeria’s capital Abuja is located in the centre of Nigeria and has a land area of 8,000 square Kilometers.

It is bounded on the north by Kaduna state, on the west by Niger state, on the east and south-east by Nasarawa state and on the south-west by Kogi state. It falls within latitude 7 45′ and 7 39′.
