Mbagen College of Health Technology (MCHT) is a tertiary institution for healthcare education.

It is located in Abwa, the capital of Mbagen community, Buruku LGA, Benue State, Nigeria.

It is a reputable healthcare school that has grown to greater heights over the years.

Diploma in Community Health (CHEW)

• DURATION: Three years

• ENTRY QUALIFICATION: WASCE, SSCE, NECO or GCE O/Level with five (5) credits at not more than two sittings, which MUST include; English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Certificate in Community Health (JCHEW)

• DURATION: Two years

• ENTRY QUALIFICATION: Three (3) credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology and passes in two (2) science subjects in WASCE/GCE or NECO at not more than two sittings.

Mbagen College of Health Technology, Abwa

The school is in Abwa town of Mbagen community at Km 30 Gboko – Katsina Ala Road, Buruku LGA, Benue, Nigeria

It was established by Mbagen Development Association (MDA).

Mbagen is a Tiv clan in Buruku LGA of Benue state, Nigeria

The school is an inspiring achievement of what a community can do by itself for everyone including non-members.

Mbagen College of Health Technology commenced in January, 2014 and was officially commissioned on 9 May, 2014 by Senator Dr. George Akume.

The institution intends to be a renowned centre in Nigeria for the training of primary healthcare workers that will combine professional knowledge with the fear of God in discharging their responsiblities.①

Initially it had one block of three lecture rooms, one of which was converted into staff room the other were occupied by CHEW and JCHEW students respectively.

The staff of the college as of then included Mrs Adaga Terver, Mrs Dinah Taku, Mr Andoor Manasseh and other teaching and non teaching staff.

As at September 2022 Mbagen College of Health Technology had at leasf six (6) permanent primary healthcare tutor and four (4) visiting and many other teaching and non teaching staff.

The college has grown to become a bigger institution with several blocks of lecture rooms and an administrative block with many offices, a demonstration block with equipment, models and teaching aids, a library, laboratory and a large auditorium.

It attained full accreditation in January, 2018 by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) to train CHEW and JCHEW students.

On 3 October, 2018 it was visited by the State Primary Healthcare Board on the for the purpose of supervision.②
