The New Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS) with 20% chart
Nigeria Police Force runs on a command structure in form of ranks. Salary of each officer is paid according to their rank. The highest ranking officer is Inspector General of Police while the lowest is Constable.
The ranks in Nigeria Police are:
- The Inspector-General of Police
- The Deputy Inspector-General of Police
- The Asst. Inspector-General of Police
- The Commissioner of Police (In-charge of contingents in a state)
- The Deputy Commissioner of Police
- The Asst. Commissioner of Police
- The Chief Superintendent of Police
- The Superintendent of Police
- The Deputy Superintendent of Police
- The Asst. Superintendent of Police
- The Inspector of Police
- Sergeant Major
- Sergeant
- Corporal
- Constable
In addition to the titles of the ranks are steps. A step is an elevation within a rank. In some cases it is added once every year. It brings a minor, annual increase on the salary while promotion to another rank brings a major salary increase.
Step explains why two constables may earn differently. A constable who is on a higher step earns more than on on a lower step. A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) on Step 1 could have a Gross Salary of N259,000 while another DSP who is on Step 8 could earn up to N301,000.
The New Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), 2022
