Yankari Game Reserve, although located in Bauchi, is one of Nigeria’s landmark tourist locations. The Park is reputed to be the first of its kind in West Africa and attracts visitors/tourists from different parts of the world.

Sumu Wildlife Park is located in Ganjuwa Local Government, Bauchi State.

In order to regenerate and further boost animal population in the reserve, the state government received about 300 animals of 6 different species from Namibia which included Giraffe, Eland, Kudu, Impala and Zebra.     These formed the foundation for the establishment of the 8 square kilometres Sumu Wildlife Park within Lame Burra Game reserve in order to allow the animals to acclimatize to their new environment under close watch.

The tomb of the late Prime Minister of Nigeria, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, is located along the Ran Road in Bauchi.

Balewa was famously assassinated in the 1966 coup that led to the Nigeria civil war. With a large tower-like structure in front of it, it is indeed a sight to behold. It is also a museum which houses the personal effects of the late Balewa, including his wristwatch, radio and cap, displayed in glass cases.
